Zidani Most

Zidani Most [ Zidani mɔ ː st ] ( German Steinbrück, former Klaus Stein) is a village in central Slovenia in Lower Styria ( Slow Lower Styria ). Zidani Most belongs to the municipality Lasko and is located at the mouth of the river Savinja into the Sava. According to 2002 census, the settlement has 330 inhabitants.

Its name goes back to a bridge near the city. The bridge on the Sava was built in Roman times. In the 15th century, the city and the second bridge, which was built in the 13th century, were destroyed by the Cillier generals Jan Vitovec in a battle against the Habsburgs. Today, there are at most three Zidani savinjski bridges, two railway bridges, and a road bridge.

Between 1846 and 1849 the train station and the surrounding portions of the southern railway was built; next Steinbrück emerged at this time the two places Milan and Venezia / Venice, named after the places of origin of the workers who built the railway. In the summer of 1862 was Zidani Most of the railway expansion to Zagreb and Sisak to a junction of important rail lines. Since then, here branches off the railway line Zidani Most of the Sisak - old Austrian Southern Railway, which runs from Trieste and Ljubljana to Maribor, Graz and Vienna.
