Židovice (Litoměřice District)

Židovice ( German Schidowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers northwest from Roudnice on the Elbe River and is part of the Okres Litoměřice.

Geography

The village is located linkselbisch below the Elbe loop from Roudnice. By Židovice the railway line between Lovosice and Roudnice runs, the next train stop is located in Hrobce.

Neighboring towns are Hrobce in the north, Černěves in the northeast, Zavadilka in the east, and Vědomice Roudnice the southeast, Podlusky in the south, Novomlýnské and Chvalín the southwest, Nové Dvory in the west and Rohatce in the northwest.

History

It is first mentioned in 1390 in the land register Židovice to the archbishopric of Prague associated rule Roudnice. The resulting 1500 Židovicer yard is detectable since 1555. Acquired in 1577 by Wilhelm von Rosenberg Židovice, after his death, his widow inherited it Polyxena, who passed over the possession of the Lobkowicz. 1784, the land of Židovice and Hrobce were pooled. After the replacement of the patrimonial separate municipality Židovice - Hrobce, which belonged to the Prague Circle and District Melnik was born. Between 1848 and 1850 the railway between Prague and Dresden was built through the village. 1870 took a sugar factory on the operation. 1890, the village had 418 inhabitants and 1900 there were already 467 In 1904, the municipality Židovice - Hrobce separated into the communities Židovice and Hrobce. 1920 lived 487 people in the village.

Through the Elbe flood of 2002, the place was flooded partially.
