Ziebach County, South Dakota

Ziebach County is a county located in the state of South Dakota in the United States. It is one of the poorest counties in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) is in Dupree.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​5105 square kilometers. Of these, approximately 5082 square kilometers of land and 23 square miles (0.44 percent) of water. The district is divided into three unorganized territories: Dupree, Ziebach North and South Ziebach.

Almost the entire County is located within the Cheyenne River Reservation, an Indian reservation. A small part of the district at its most northerly limit belongs to the Standing Rock Reservation. History

The County is by Francis M. Ziebach, the first Governor of South Dakota, named. He was born in 1830 near Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He died at 99 years on 20 September 1929.
