History
The municipality was created in 1997 from the previous Munizipalgemeinde, which included the local churches Zihlschlacht, Sitter village and Schocherswil. Schocherswil has joined Amriswil.
Around 1,200 years old, both the community as well as part Zihlschlacht Sitter village. Although the name suggests, Zihlschlacht was never a slaughter. It is thought the name came from the Alemanni, who beat the woods in the area. The village was the name Sitter 787 AD first time. mentioned as Sidruna. The name derives was the Sitter River, which flows through the village and partly also makes the town limits.
