Zinf

Zinf (formerly FreeAmp ) is a free audio player for Windows and Linux. Zinf supports MP3, ( Ogg ) Vorbis, WAV, audio CD and play audio capable of streaming.

It is distributed as free software under the terms of the GNU General Public License ( GPL). It is written in the programming languages ​​C and C and is based on mpg123 and the Surface Toolkit GTK .

History

A first development version of FreeAmp was published on 2 July 1998. Initially processed FreeAmp MPEG audio with the model developed by Xing Technology decoder. On December 18, 1999 Revision 2.0 was released. Since the term "AMP " is a registered trademark of Media Play, Inc. is this and argued his rights, the Freeamp project had to be renamed. Since version 2.2.0 in June 2002, is now published under the name " Zinf ". Zinf is a recursive acronym that stands for " Zinf Is Not freeâ * p".

The development seems to have stopped for some time. So for a long time no new versions have been published. The last download is from early 2004, while the Windows version is even older and even contains some serious errors with respect to the Ogg Vorbis format.
