Zizi Lambrino

Ioana Maria Valentina "Zizi" Lambrino ( born October 3, 1898 in Vaslui, † March 27, 1953 in Neuilly ) was the first, morganatic wife of the heir to the throne Romanian and later King Charles II

She was born as the daughter of Constantin Lambrino, a Romanian officer, and his wife Euphrosine Alcaz.

The well-known as a playboy and bon vivant Romanian Crown Prince Carol, son of Romanian King Ferdinand I met Ioana during the war in Iasi know when the royal family was forced to leave due to the threat of German occupation of Bucharest. The relationship was frowned upon by parents yard and Carols. Carol Ioana smuggled across the Russian border and the couple married on 31 August 1918 in a secret ceremony without the knowledge and consent of the royal couple at the Cathedral of Odessa.

Carol's parents were extremely angry at the announcement of the marriage and held her son 75 days long in house arrest in Bistrita. Prime Minister Brătianu accused the heir to the throne of treason.

The marriage was legally valid by law, but was canceled by the Supreme Court already on 8 January 1919. Carol withdrew its place under contract to the throne and continued to meet with Ioana.

On January 8, 1920 in Bucharest Ioana brought their son Carol Mircea ( † 27 January 2006) to the world.

Carol was forced to marry the befitting Princess Elena of Greece and "Zizi" had to leave the country. Carol led his dissolute life further, however, and led not only to his marriage again a relationship with a socially unacceptable Civil, Elena Lupescu. His wife divorced him. After Charles II abdicated as king and went into exile, he married Elena again in a morganatic marriage.

Carol and the Romanian court paid Ioana to the collapse of the monarchy maintenance. Charles II died in 1953 in exile in Portugal. His first wife died the same year near Paris.

1996 was a Romanian court marriage between Carol and Ioana as valid and enforceable. This cast a deep shadow on the status of the heir, the last Romanian King Michael I. Since the annulment of the first marriage was annulled by this judgment and this was therefore never completed, thus the second marriage with Elena of Greece, Michael's mother, was virtually invalidated.
