Zoltán Béres

Zoltán Béres (* January 1968 Nyírbátor ) is a Hungarian boxer. He won an Olympic bronze medal in 1992 in the light heavyweight division.

Amateur career

Béres won five Hungarian championships and a bronze medal in the light heavyweight division at the 25th Summer Olympics in Barcelona. He defeated while Paolo Mwaselle from Tanzania 30:13, Muhammad Asghar from Pakistan by abortion in the first round, and Roland Raforme of Seychelles 11:3. In the semifinals, he finally succumbed Rostislav Saulitschni from the Soviet Union by demolition in the third round and thus reached # 3

He also participated in the Junior European Championships 1986 in Copenhagen, the World Championships in 1993 in Tampere, the World Cup 1994 in Bangkok and the European Championships in 1996 in Vejle in part, without reaching the medal ranks.

Professional career

In 1998, he became a professional and defeated in August 1999 on points against Fırat Arslan, but in May 2001 he defeated Ahmet Öner. In September 2001, he lost to Jackson Chanet, in April 2003 against Tomasz Adamek and in March 2006 against Pietro Aurino. In July 2006 he lost early against Alexander Alexeyev, further defeats followed in December 2006 against Mariusz Wach, and in February 2007 against Sebastian Köber. In August 2013 his professional record was 44 wins, 49 defeats and three draws.
