Zoo Opole

The Zoo Opole is a 30 -acre zoological garden at the Bolko Island in Polish Opole ( Opole ). It has around 1000 animals from 227 species. The zoo in Opole is the second largest zoo in Upper Silesia, after the zoo in Chorzow ( Chorzów ).

History

The zoo was created in 1930 as a small private zoo with a size of one hectare on the island or Bolko. In 1936, he was open to the public. The plant was the second, after the Tiergarten in Bytom, which was built in Upper Silesia and is today the oldest existing facility in the region. In 1980, the area of the zoo was expanded to 19 hectares. The zoo was heavily damaged during the Second World War and during the Oder flood in 1997. After the flood was immediately begun with the reconstruction, which lasted about a year. Here, the zoo was expanded to its current size of approximately 30 acres.

Plant

The outdoor enclosure is designed according to the natural conditions of the species. They are limited by natural obstacles such as ditches, watercourses or islands. Also here there is also a petting zoo.
