Zorch

Zorch was the first purely electronic synth group from England.

They were the first band that played exclusively with synthesizers. The name refers to the travel speed of light.

History

Founded in 1973 by Howard Scarr Zorch ( Gwyo Zepix ), Basil Brooks and Niel Thorpe ( Neil E Norml ). From 1975 Zorch existed only as a duo ( Scarr and Brooks). They performed at various music festivals, among others, Windsor '74, Meagan Fayre '75 and '74 & '75 Stonehenge.

Zorch broke up in 1976, in concert. Basil Brooks joined the Steve Hillage band and was responsible for the sound effects of The Hitchhiker 's Guide to the Galaxy ( Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) stage shows. Howard Scarr joined Skywhale, moving to Germany later and played in several bands. 2000 Howard returned to the UK to join the reunited band Gong for keyboards and synthesizers.

In 2000, Zorch reunited and had a string of gigs in the UK, among others, on the Hackney Empire Theatre in London with gong and two Tribe of Frog Festival in Bristol. In 2001 she played in Glastonbury Assembly Rooms and took the live album " Live Glastonbury " on.

In November 2006, played live at the Gong Unconvention Zorch Festival in Amsterdam Melkweg.
