Zorzor

Region

The city is an administrative center Zorzor of Lofa County in northern Liberia. It is located on a tributary of the Saint Paul River on the border with Guinea. The population of the city was, according to census 2008 5131 inhabitants.

In the surroundings of the place are since the Civil War a number of significant refugee camp, thousands of Liberians still live across the border on the territory of Guinea as refugees.

The region is used for agriculture especially. In January 2009, the region of the Liberian armyworm Plague, a proliferation of caterpillars, greatly affected, the Liberian government therefore had to first declare a national emergency. A relatively intact road network has been developed through the use of deployed after the civil war in Liberia, Blue Helmets, and the technical infrastructure was rebuilt. An administrative center, schools and the Curan Hospital are available.
