Zuzwil ( oldest documented mention: Zuocewilare ) is a municipality in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality lies in the prince 's land between Wil SG and Uzwil, on the border with the Canton of Thurgau includes the villages Zuzwil, Züberwangen and weirs. Zuzwil is on the main road 7

History

In the year 754 the village Züberwangen was first mentioned in records in accordance Henauer certificate. The area around Zuzwil but was already inhabited around 1500 years ago by the Alemanni.

Zuzwil has developed into a residence with appropriate infrastructure since 1960. The population has almost quadrupled in that time. The situation in rural area with direct access to the motorway and public transport links, close to shopping Uzwil and Wil SG, a diverse club and party scene, coupled with the residential area with views of the Säntis the Alpsteinarea and the near Thur attracted many residents in the low-tax community.

Weieren

Until the formation of the canton of St. Gallen in 1803 Weieren was a separate municipality. The oldest known document from Weieren comes from a donation from the year 762 in 2004 Züberwangen / Weieren celebrated its 1250 - year anniversary (see Henauer document from the year 754 ).

Züberwangen

Züberwangen 1373 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2008). As with Weieren Züberwangen was first mentioned in the Henauer certificate. Until the formation of the canton of St. Gallen in 1803 Züberwangen was a separate municipality.
