The cartridge .454 Casull is a powerful revolver cartridge.

History

The cartridge .454 Casull was designed by Dick Casull and Jack Fulmer in 1957. It is based on the .45 Colt cartridge, the cartridge was lengthened and strengthened for this purpose. For revolvers in caliber .454 Casull and .45 Colt cartridges can be fired.

Development

The newer cartridge .460 S & W Magnum was in turn by extending the sleeve of the .454 Casull, therefore .454 - Casull and .45 Colt cartridges can be loaded into revolvers in caliber .460 S & W. The cartridge .454 Casull surpasses in performance the more recent .50 Action Express cartridge, but still below the performance of the cartridges .460 and .500 S & W Magnum.
