1- aminopropane -2 -ol is an organic compound selected from the group consisting of alkanolamines. It is a colorless liquid with a faint ammoniacal odor.
Production and representation
The colorless liquid with ammoniacal odor turns brown on prolonged contact with air or iron. The vapors of 1 -amino -2 -ol are heavier (2.59 times) than air.
- As an intermediate for the production of color - and drugs, as well as esters, amides and salts of higher molecular weight fatty acids, which are as a detergent, oil-in -water emulsifiers suitable ( in cosmetics), and the like
- As a stabilizer for textile waxes and solubilizers
- As a corrosion inhibitor in cooling lubricants
The vapors of 1 -amino -2 -ol can (71 ° C flash point) form explosive mixtures with air at elevated temperatures.
