1 -chloro-1 ,2,2,2 -tetrafluoroethane is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of partially halogenated chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs ) has been used as refrigerants and propellants. It is considered harmful to the ozone layer. It replaces R -114 or Dichlorotetrafluoroethane as refrigerants in chillers for high ambient temperatures.
Properties
1 -chloro-1 ,2,2,2 -tetrafluoroethane has an ozone depletion potential of 0.03.
Safety
As with all CFCs formed during the thermal decomposition ( due to heat ) of chlorotetrafluoroethane corrosive substances ( hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid).
