1. Münchner FC 1896

The 1st Munich FC 1896 is a former football club based in Munich. Contrary to the stated in the club name year it was founded only in 1899, but saw himself as a successor to the alleged first football club of the city, was founded on September 5, 1896 Terra Pila. The 1st Munich FC 1896 - not to be confused with the 1st FC Munich in the 1930s - was in January 1900 the 86 founding clubs of the German Football Association, but made already in 1910, the operation of gambling one.

In Munich, the football game was comparatively late popular. While in Berlin ( 1890) and Hamburg / Altona (1894 ) had already formed the first German football associations and championship rounds fought out, the first football club joined the Bavarian metropolis until 1896 public appearance. On September 5, 1896, some school and university students formed a " club for lawn sports " and gave it the Latin name " Terra Pila ". It was played preferably on the Theresienwiese, where the Oktoberfest takes place today. When this association began playing football, is no longer determine; According to founding statutes was "the promotion and dissemination of lawn games, especially baseball and boxing ball game" called as an association end. At an early team photo is next to a baseball bat but also a football to see and football prevailed as the main operation of the association. Leading forces of the association were probably called Anton Hubel because of his long legs " knuckles Toni", and the German-American Fred Dunn. Also was founded in 1896 with the North Star FC 1896 another football club, may yet " Terra Pila " because the North Star FC described himself on his letterhead as " elder Munich football club "; a proof is not possible due to lack of sources. As with Terra Pila also members of the North Star FC were mainly students. The following year, 1897, was created with the football department at the MTV Munich 1879 another team that practiced the sport regularly. From an organized game operation, however, could be at this time far from the speech.

Terra Pila already broke up in 1898 or 1899. Some of the players on the team had moved to other parts of the city, others, including co-founder Anton Hubel, now devoted themselves mainly to mountain sports and soon after founded a club called " The mountain monkeys ". Part of Terra Pila players who wanted to continue playing football, to the 1879 MTV followed, others founded the 1st Munich Football Club in 1896 a successor club. Around the turn of the century rose in Munich, the number of football teams in 1899 were next to the 1st Munich FC 1896 with FC Bavaria in 1899 and the football department in TV Munich 1860 two more added, in February 1900, the FC Bayern emerged as a splinter group of players of MTV in 1879. Munich FC the first was in March 1896 opponent in the first match of FC Bayern, which on the urban playground was held in March 1900 at the Schyrenwiese and won the Bayern 5-2. Even for the later "Lions", the football team of TV 1860, the association of opponents in the first public football match was, they lost the first FC on July 27, 1902, 2:4.

With the increasing number of clubs in Munich came very gradually an organized game operation in motion. In the years 1902 and 1903 were first played on the initiative of FC Bayern City championships in which participated the tour operators and also the 1st Munich FC 1896, FC Bavaria in 1899 and the MTV 1879. It won each of the FC Bayern. This " championships " were unofficial nature, because although there was in southern Germany since 1897 a football association that organized but at this time only to a national final, so the clubs, what a regular local gaming operations were concerned, had to rely on their own initiative. On October 2, 1904 was constituted with the Munich Football Association (MFB ), a local association of henceforth wanted to organize the championship rounds.

Little is known about the cutting of the 1st Munich FC 1896 in these years. In the "City Championship " 1902/ 03 they lost to FC Bavaria with 12:16. As the Süddeutsche Football Association 1905/ 06 for the first time in Bavaria ansetzte a point round and in the Südstaffel six teams from Munich as well as the MTV Augsburg competed against each other, the 1st Munich FC 1896 belonged neither to the top flight as in subsequent seasons. Like the other two clubs from Munich that are listed in the list of the 86 founding clubs of the German Football Association, was the first FC 1896 only a few years: The FC North Star broke up in February 1902, the FC Bavaria existed only until 1907 as an independent club and then went as a football department in the Turngemeinde Munich AV on, and the 1st Munich FC 1896 eventually forced loud club chronicle not described in detail " adverse circumstances " for setting the play operation. The members of the association, however, tended from 1911 continues the sociability and even up to the 1960s there were regular bowling evenings.
