( 10101 ) Fourier is an asteroid of the main belt of the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory was discovered on 30 January 1992.

The celestial body is after the French mathematician and physicist Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier (1768 - 1830) appointed who put through his work in the field of mathematical physics, such as the Fourier analysis, a cornerstone of modern physics.
