The North Sea empire

  • April 23: The English king Æthelred out of the house of Wessex dies during the siege of London by Knut the Great. His claim to the throne takes his eldest son Edmund II Ironside. Between the two kings Edmund Knut and it comes in the wake several skirmishes.
  • October 18 In the decisive battle at Ashingdon, in the course drop some English Prince of Edmund, Edmunds is beaten army devastating.
