- Campaign of Barbastro - prototype of the Crusades: 1063 calls Pope Alexander II on a campaign to conquer the Spanish fortress town Barbastro by the Moors. An international Christian army of French, Burgundians, Italian Normans, Catalans and Aragonese united in the spring of 1064 in Girona, moves to Barbastro and captured the city after a short siege. The city was pillaged, massacred the inhabitants, rule over Barbastro is to Count Armengol III. passed from Urgell, the main army returned with rich booty in the home. In the spring of 1065 the Moors retake the city.
