110th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)
The 110th Infantry Division (ID) was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht. It was set up in December 1940 and until June 1941 stationed in Poland. From there she took part on the Soviet Union in the invasion. It was completely destroyed in July 1944 on the Eastern Front near Minsk in Belarus.

The 110th ID was set up as part of the 12th wave formation in 1940 in Lüneburg from parts of the 12th ID and 30th ID. In addition, the home - guard battalion 400 was integrated into the 110th ID. As part of Operation Barbarossa the 110th ID was integrated into the Army Group Centre and took part in the June 1941 attack on the Soviet Union. In December 1941, the 110th ID was on the retreat of the front line of Kalinin in southwestern direction. As part of the 9th Army, the division fought in the 1942 Battle of Rzhev. Due to heavy losses on the Eastern Front had disbanded on November 2, 1943 and their survivors are incorporated into the Division Group 321, the GR 252. In July 1944, during Operation Bagration the 110th ID was almost completely destroyed as part of Army Group Centre in the battle of encirclement of Minsk in Belarus. On June 30, 1944, the 110th ID reached the Berezina River, the pioneers of the Division built under difficult conditions such as massed attacks of Soviet attack aircraft and artillery fire duration a temporary bridge over the river. Fleeing troops, such as scattered units of Panzergrenadier Division " Feldherrenhalle " 78th Assault Division, etc. increasingly pushed to the Pioneer Bridge and reinforced the stampede of the disintegrating Army Group Center.
