(12 ) Victoria is one of the main asteroid belt asteroid, which was discovered on 13 September 1850 by John Russell Hind as twelfth asteroid. The naming was controversial at the time because it was generally believed Hind have called the celestial body in honor of the British Queen Victoria - until then, it was unusual to name the asteroid after living persons. Hind pointed out, however, that the Roman goddess of victory was the eponym.

Victoria moves at a distance of 1.8191 ( perihelion ) to 2.8495 ( aphelion ) astronomical units, in 3.57 years of the sun. The orbit is inclined 8.3619 ° to the ecliptic, the orbital eccentricity is 0.2207.

Victoria has a diameter of 117 kilometers. It has a relatively bright surface with an albedo of 0.176. In about 8 hours and 40 minutes to rotate around its own axis.

Images that have been made by means of radar, and speckle interferometry, show that the asteroid has an elongated shape. Possibly it consists of two bodies.
