Fourth Crusade

  • June: Destruction of Erfurt's vineyards at the siege of Erfurt by Otto IV The mention of this historical event in Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach is one of the few datable historical references in the German literature of the Middle Ages.
  • Fourth Crusade: Venice and a Frankish army of crusaders draw against Konstantin Opel. April: The army breaks after hibernation on in Zara direction Konstantin Opel.

  • July 17: First attack on Constantinople Opel; Emperor Alexios III. flees at night.
