( 1240) Centenaria is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on February 5, 1932 in Hamburg -Bergedorf by the German astronomer Richard Reinhard Emil Schorr.

The name of the asteroid was the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Hamburg Observatory selected ( Centesima: Latin for the hundredth ).
