Europe

  • April 3: In the Peace of furnace, the Bohemian King Ottokar II and the Hungarian King Béla IV agree on the division of the Duchy of Austria and the Duchy of Styria.
  • July 13: ( disbanded in 1257 ) founded the Rhenish Confederation to the preservation of the public peace
  • October 9: Battle of the Wülferichskamp
  • The French king Louis IX. returns after payment of a large ransom back due to capture of 6 Crusade
  • 1250 or 1254: the beginning of the interregnum (up to 1273) with the death of Conrad IV
  • The 1247 already elected anti-king William of Holland is generally recognized as a Roman German king.
  • Manfred leads the reign of Conrad continued over Sicily. After transient recognition by Innocent IV as suzerain of Sicily he manages a win against the papal troops. Then moved Pope Alexander IV, the English king Henry III. to transfer the kingdom of Sicily to his son Edmund (see also 1255 ).

  • Pentecost: On the General Chapter of the Dominicans in Buda Humbert of Romans is selected for the fifth Grand Master decided ( to 1263 ) and, inter alia, that each Province of the Order shall have generale about studying (see also List of Master of the Order ).
  • Margaret of Hungary placed in a convent near Buda profession (see 1242 )
  • September: Albertus Magnus is Provincial of the Dominican Province of the Order Teutonia ( to 1257 ). In this capacity, he is in Belgium and Germany ( with a side trip to Riga ), northern Italy and to Paris on foot ( a map of the visited places under links). During this time he wrote his commentary on Aristotle's De anima '.
  • December 12: Count Rinaldo di Segni is when Pope Alexander IV 's successor Innocent IV elected and enthroned on 20 December.
  • Pietro del Murrone, who later became Pope Celestine V., founds the Cölestinerorden.
  • Roger Bacon is the Joachimitismus suspected (see Joachim of Fiore ).
