( 12661 ) Schelling is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 27 February 1976 by the German astronomer frankness Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg (IAU code 033) in Thuringia.
The asteroid was named after the German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling (1775-1854), considered one of the main representatives of German idealism influenced a variety of philosophers.
