( 1293 ) Sonja is an asteroid of running between the planetary orbits of Mars and Jupiter main belt. Sonja was discovered on September 26, 1933 by the Belgian astronomer Eugène Delporte Joseph at the Royal Observatory in Uccle (Brussels).

The asteroid was named at the suggestion of Bahnberechners; the derivation of the name is not known.
