(13 ) Egeria is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on November 2, 1850 by Annibale De Gas Paris as thirteenth asteroid.

It was named after celestial bodies Egeria, a prophetic nymph in Roman mythology.

Egeria moves at a distance of about 2.4 ( perihelion ) to about 2.8 ( aphelion ) astronomical units, in 4.1 years around the sun. The track is heavily tilted at about 16.5 ° to the ecliptic, the orbital eccentricity is approximately 0.086.

With an average diameter of approximately 200 kilometers Egeria is one of the largest asteroids of the main belt. It has a dark carbonaceous surface with a geometric albedo of about 0.08. 7 hours and 3 minutes to rotate about its own axis.

On January 8, 1992 occultation Egeria was observed. Through analysis of the light curve, the expansion of the asteroid to 217 × 196 km could be determined.
