13th Chess Olympiad

The 13th Chess Olympiad took place from 30 September to 23 October 1958 in Munich.

It was attended by 36 teams, identified in four opening acts, the teams for the final groups A to C. 207 players took part in the competition, including 25 grandmasters and 42 international masters. Both the opening acts as well as the final groups A to C were discharged as a round robin tournaments. The first three teams each opening act qualified for the Final Group A

It was played at the Deutsches Museum. The chief organizers were Ludwig Schneider and Willi Pohl from Germany. As Chief Judge Alois Nagler served from Switzerland. The cooling-off period was two and a half hours for 40 moves, then one hour for each 16 moves. The rankings were determined based on the board points (BP) and Team Points (MP).
