( 1436 ) Salonta is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 11 December 1936 by the Hungarian György Kulin astronomers at the Konkoly Observatory in Budapest.

The name of the asteroid commemorates the birthplace of its discoverer, the paper today in Romania City Salonta (Hungarian Nagyszalonta ).
