History

Foundation

As in Turkey, the reserve teams may participate in professional leagues not only in the league of reserve teams, the A2 Ligi, there are some years the efforts of some first division to have a team in addition to one of the lower Turkish leagues. In this sense, the Turkish club Trabzonspor tradition bought in the summer on the competition law by the then third division Değirmenderespor and named this club in Trabzon Karadenizspor.

Under this name, the club participated in about a year in the competition. On 14 January 2009 it was decided to rename the club again. The name was chosen in 1461 Trabzon, where the full name Spor Kulübü 1461 Trabzon is. 1461 is intended to symbolize the year in which Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered the city of Trabzon, thus annexing the kingdom.

In the season 2011/12 they picked with Mustafa Resit Akçay a coach who two seasons earlier, the unknown province team Tavşanlı Linyitspor led to a modest squad in the TFF 1 Lig and in the following season until the play-offs the first Lig came. Akçay, who is a native of Trabzon and previously worked for Trabzonspor as youth and assistant coach, accepted the offer willingly to worse conditions than he had been offered by Linyitspor on. This collaboration was quickly fruit. So you closed the 2011/12 season as champions of the TFF Lig 2 and reached for the first time in club history the direct promotion to the TFF 1 Lig

In the TFF 1 Lig ascended, the club became the surprise team in the second division season 2012/13. We were led in stages to the table and there was almost the whole season on one of the front three places in the table. Although during the winter break 2012/13 with Abdullah Karmil, Sercan Kayaund Eren Albayrak three key employees left the club, you still stayed in the upper third of the table, the season ended unexpectedly at the 3rd place in the table and qualified as for the playoff phase. Since the Turkish Football Federation forbade that two directly inter-related teams may be in the same league, they renounced the finals and thus prevented before a conflict.

With the end of the professional leagues in the summer of 2013, a new president was elected club Trabzonspor with İbrahim Haciosmanoglu. This set as one of his first acts Mustafa Resit Akçay ago as the new head coach of Trabzonspor. Akçay followed Kadir Ozcan as head coach. Özcan died after a heart attack on 22 October 2013.
