- Lucas Cranach the Elder paints the picture cycle The 10 Commandments.
- Titian is replaced by Prior Fra Germano da Casale Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, his first big order for a religious painting. He starts working on the Assumption, which will last until 1518.
