( 17023 ) Abbott is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on March 7, 1999 of Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton at his private observatory, the Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428), in Queensland, Australia.

The asteroid was named after the American actor and comedian Bud Abbott - named, of the successful comic duo Abbott and Costello formed, along with his partner Lou Costello (1897, 1974 ).
