(179 ) Clytemnestra is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on November 11, 1876 by James Craig Watson. It was named after celestial bodies Clytemnestra, wife of Agamemnon in Greek mythology.

Clytemnestra is between 2.6 ( perihelion ) astronomical units to 3.3 astronomical units ( aphelion ) in 5,120 years of the sun. The track is 7 °, 8 is inclined to the ecliptic, the orbital eccentricity is 0.115. Clytemnestra has a diameter of about 80 km.
