(1834 ) Palach is an asteroid of the outer main belt, which was discovered on August 22, 1969 in Hamburg by the Czech astronomer Luboš Kohoutek at the observatory in Hamburg- Bergedorf (IAU code 029).

The asteroid is named after the Czech student Jan Palach (1948-1969) appointed who burned himself in protest against the occupation of Czechoslovakia on 16 January 1969 in Wenceslas Square in Prague itself.
