( 18426 ) Maffei is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 18 December 1993 by the Italian amateur astronomer Enrico Colzani and Graziano Ventre Osservatorio Astronomico on Sormano (IAU code 587 ) in the Province of Como.

The asteroid was named after the Italian astronomer Paolo Maffei (1926-2009), who led the Observatory of Catania in Sicily and the largest members of the group named after him Maffei discovered.
