( 184878 ) Gotlib is an asteroid of the outer main belt, which the French computer scientist and amateur astronomer Jean -Claude Merlin on 26 October 2005 at the fully automatic Ritchey -Chrétien -81- cm telescope of the Tenagra II Observatory in Nogales, Arizona ( IAU code 926 ) was discovered. The telescope could be controlled at the Merlin discovery from France.

The diameter of the asteroid is estimated at just three kilometers.

( 184878 ) Gotlib was named at the suggestion of Jean -Claude Merlin on 18 June 2008 after the French comic book artist and editor Marcel Gotlieb, who is known by the abbreviation Gotlib.
