(1872 ) Helenos is an asteroid from the group of Jupiter Trojans. Thus asteroids are called, which run on the path of Jupiter on the Lagrange points around the sun. (1872 ) Helenus was discovered on March 24, 1971 by Cornelis Johannes research team van Houten, Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels.
Was named the asteroid after Helenus, son of Priam, a legendary figure of the Trojan War.
