1886 Wimbledon Championships

The tenth Wimbledon Championships took place in 1886 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road instead. In the Challenge Round of the gentlemen about 3,500 spectators were again present.

Men's Singles

It took, like last year, 23 players on All - Comer contest. In a third edition of the Challenge Round between William Renshaw and Herbert Lawford to Renshaw fired again through clearly. He won the first set 6-0 in nine and a half minutes and celebrated his sixth consecutive title.

Women's Singles

In the All- Comers Competition competed eight players. The challenger Blanche Bingley won, something of a surprise for the audience, the first challenge round with the ladies against Maud Watson with 6:3 and 6:3.

Men's doubles

With the final victory over Claude Farrer and Arthur Stanley in 6:3, 6:3, 4:6 and 7:5, the brothers Renshaw reached their third doubles title in a row.
