(189 ) Phthia is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on September 9, 1878 by Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters. Was named the heavenly bodies to Phthia, the daughter of Phoroneus and mother of Achaeus from Greek mythology.

Phthia moves at a distance of 2.4 ( perihelion ) to 3.5 ( aphelion ) astronomical units in 3,836 years of the sun. The orbit is inclined 5.2 degrees to the ecliptic, the orbital eccentricity is 0.04. Phthia has a diameter of 38 kilometers. It has a bright silicate-containing surface with an albedo of 0.23.
