1894 Wimbledon Championships

The 18th edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1894 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road instead. While with eleven players a slight increase was recorded in the number of participants of the All- Comers tournament of the ladies took in the men the number to 22 players from.

This year, new washing facilities and showers were installed on the premises.

Men's Singles

Joshua Pim defended his title in the Challenge Round against Wilfred Baddeley, who previously Ernest Lewis had defeated in the All- Comers final.

Women's Singles

In the women's Blanche Bingley Hillyard could with a victory in the All- Comers final against Edith Austin her third title after 1886 and 1889 win. Last year's winner Charlotte Dod not competed in the Challenge Round to defend their title.

Men's doubles

Wilfred and Herbert Baddeley sat against Harold Barlow and the Americans by Charles Martin with 5:7, 7:5, 4:6, 6:3 and 8:6.
