- February 8: By forming a football section of Budapesti Torna Club becomes the first football club in Hungary.

Fencing
MPs from 29 fencing clubs from Germany and Austria found on March 7 in Berlin the German Fencing Federation. Willibald Gebhardt is elected the first chairman.
