1898–99 Football League

The Football League First Division 1898/99 was the 11th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. It began on September 1, 1898 and ended on 29 April 1899. It was the first season in which no test matches over the relegation decided, but at this automatically carried out according to table placement. Both First and Second Division was expanded to 18 clubs.

Aston Villa won with two points distance from Liverpool the fourth English championship in the club's history. Both newly promoted Burnley FC and Newcastle United were able to get the class. Instead, the Bolton Wanderers and The Wednesday had to play the course in the Second Division. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two second-division promoted Manchester City and Glossop North End.

A total of 421 players were used, with Notts County with 19, the least and Derby County with 31 aufboten most players in league games. 156 newcomers were offset by 138 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1898/99 season.

In the following list, all players were listed who came for Aston Villa in a league game for use during the 1898/99 season. It must be noted that in most cases a minimum number of games will be provided in English football to accept the official champion medal allowed. As regards the specific arrangements prior to the introduction of the Premier League, there is lack of clarity, all the players with an asterisk (*) have been provided which have received no champion medal presumably because of their small contribution. In brackets the number of bets as well as the goals achieved are called.
