The 22nd edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1898 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road instead. The participants in the All- Comers tournament had 16 players in the men's 37, with the ladies.

Men's Singles

In the Challenge Round defeated Reginald Doherty his brother Lawrence in five sets, and thus won his second title.

Women's Singles

In the absence of last year's winner Blanche Bingley Hillyard Charlotte Cooper won by a victory in the final of the All- Comers Contest Louisa Martin on her third title.

Men's doubles

The brothers Reginald and Lawrence Doherty could prevail again in the Challenge Round. They won against Harold Nisbet and Clarence Hobart with 6:4, 6:4 and 6:2.
