1910 Copa del Rey

The Copa del Rey 1910 refers to two in 1910 discharged Spanish football trophies. An unofficial tournament was held in San Sebastián place with defending champion San Sebastian Vasconia, the other is considered the first Spanish league title and was held in Madrid. Both winners but are now officially recognized by the Spanish federation as a Spanish Cup winners of 1910.

In 1909, the Spanish Football Federation, the FECF ( Federación Española de Fútbol de Clubes ), was founded. She was entitled as the first national organization to stage national championships and had to organize the privilege of the Copa del Rey.

Defending champion San Sebastian Vasconia pleaded, not the tournament - unsubscribe in Madrid, but in San Sebastian - as hitherto always the case. However, the Spanish association was mostly against it, which eventually led to a dispute between the club from San Sebastián and the other clubs. In addition, the defending champion was not a member of FECF, so they could not participate in the Spanish Championship. Together with the clubs, which also did not belong to the Spanish Football Federation, the Basque club eventually joined a rival union, the UECF together and organized a private event in San Sebastián.

Copa UECF ( San Sebastián)

The discharged from the UECF originally unofficial tournament in San Sebastián took place between 19 and 21 March 1910. All three participating teams played once each in group mode at the Estadio de Ondarreta, the homestead of the titleholder Vasconia against each other. The Spanish Football Federation FECF tried to explain the tournament illegal, but could not enforce the ban.

Copa FECF ( in Madrid)

At the first Spanish Championship, which was held by the FECF in Madrid, attended only three teams. The Galician champions Real Fortuna FC took as little part as the Andalusian master Recreativo Huelva. In the regions of Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Madrid in the season, no regional championship had been played out. The field eventually formed the Catalan champions FC Barcelona, ​​the Galician club Deportivo de La Coruña and the capital club Español de Madrid.
