1923 Memorial Cup

The 1923 Memorial Cup was the fifth edition of the tournament the same name. Participating teams were the champions of their respective leagues, the Colts Kitchener (Ontario Hockey Association ) and the University of Manitoba ( Manitoba Junior Hockey League). The tournament saw before two games in which the winner was determined solely on the basis of goals scored.

The University of Manitoba won in their first and only finals after two games with 14:6 gates of the Memorial Cup. The tournament was held in Toronto.

Results

In the first game of the series, it was 2:2 draw after the first third. In the second period, the University of Manitoba met five times, Murray Murdock [note 1], scoring four goals in a row. Referee of this game was Lionel Conacher.

The second game of the series won 7-3 in Manitoba. Murray Murdock scored five goals in this game for his team. He scored nine goals scored a total of 14 from the University of Manitoba.

Memorial Cup winner

The team from the University of Manitoba consisted of the players A. Chapman, CS Doupe, "Nip " Johnson, Jack Mitchell, Bob Moulden, Murray Murdock, type Puttee, F. Robertson, Blake Watson, Alston " Stony " Wise and Clare Williams. The manager of the team was was R. Bruce, trained the team of Hal Moulden.
