1928–29 Football League

The Football League First Division 1928/29, was the 37th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. The Wednesday won with one point ahead of Leicester City is the third English championship in their history. Both newly promoted Manchester City and Leeds United were able to get the class; instead had the Bury FC and Cardiff City the transition to the Second Division compete. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two second division team FC Middlesbrough and Grimsby Town.

A total of 524 players were used, the Arsenal, the least and Newcastle United with 29 aufboten Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Portsmouth at 21, most players in league games. 108 newcomers were offset by 149 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1928/29 season.
