1928 Copa del Rey

The Copa del Rey 1928 was the 27th edition of the Spanish Football Cup Copa del Rey.

The competition started on 31 January and ended with the second final replay on June 29, 1928 Estadio El Sardinero in Santander. Defender of the Cup competition was Real Unión. The title was won by FC Barcelona a 3-1 victory in the final against Real Sociedad.

The second round took place with home and away matches in four groups. The group winners and runners- qualified for the quarter-finals. The group matches were held between February 5 and April 8.

The first legs were, the return games played on May 6 on May 13, 1928.

Final

Plattkó suffered in the first final match in the 38th minute due to a clash with Cholín a head wound and could not continue the game first. His place in the goal then took over the trained striker Arocha. After the wound had been six stitches, Plattkó came in the 49th minute with his head bandaged heavily back into the goal. The Spanish poet Rafael Alberti, who watched the game at the stadium, then wrote in honor of the goalkeeper 's poem " Oda a Platko ".
