1930 Mitropa Cup

The Mitropa Cup 1930 was the 4th edition of the International Cupwettbewerbs the Central European soccer club teams. It took the best teams in Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Italy, who had a year earlier replaced the Yugoslav team, in part. It was mostly for the championship and cup winners of the respective countries. The participants played in the Cup mode with pure round-trip playing in the major continental football competition in the period before the Second World War. If tied after two games a play was performed. All eight clubs started in the first round or in the quarterfinals. The defending Újpest Budapest failed in the quarter- finals in the playoff against AS Ambrosiana, today's Inter Milan.

The final took place within two weeks, on 2 and 12 November 1930 in Prague and Vienna. It qualified Sparta Prague and SK Rapid Wien, who had met each other in the first Mitropacupfinale 1927, then won the Czechoslovaks with a total score of 7:3. For Rapid, it was the third final of the Mitropacup in just four years. At home, the Prague surprisingly lost 0-2 - it was their first home defeat in a Mitropacupendspiel. A 3-2 win was not enough for the second Sparta win in this competition and so rapid the first time brought the trophy to Austria. Scorer Giuseppe Meazza in Milan with seven goals.
