1930 World Table Tennis Championships
The 4th World Table Tennis Championship took place from 21 to 26 January 1930 in Berlin ( Germany). It was also the first World Table Tennis Championship in Germany. Especially used for this purpose has the DTTB President George Lehmann.
On the Wear were the games during the day in a department store A. Wertheim and evening in the ballroom of a fraternity on Kurfürstendamm. Yugoslavia did not participate this time, but came back to India. Thus, 10 men's teams were represented again.
Hungary won almost all team matches 5-0, only against Germany lost a single one: Nikita Madjaroglou, a Greek native, won against the Hungarian Miklos Szabados.
In the absence of defending champion Fred Perry ( GB) was the single of the legendary Victor Barna first world champion. In the women won Mednyanszky Maria (Hungary ) for the 4th time in a row the World Cup.
Cutting off the Germans
The German team won 5:4 against India, Lithuania 5:1 and 5:0 Wales, that was enough for 7th place. In mixed Ingeborg Carnatz came together with Sándor Glancz on rank 3
Lilli Maria Peiser, which became known as an actress Lilli Palmer later lost in the second round of the singles competition against future world champion Mária Mednyánszky.
In the men's Misha Zabludowski defeated the Englishman Proffit, Deutelmoser defeated T.Williams (Wales ), Brainos against Todd (England), Nikita Madjaroglou against Hookins, Herbert Caro against Henry Wilbert (Sweden ) and Hans -Georg Lindenstaedt against Pirzada (India). Up to Madjaroglou and Caro all eliminated in the second round, latter in round three from.
ITTF Congress
In parallel to the games of the Congress of the ITTF took place. This took the United States and Ireland in the ITTF.
