1932–33 NHL season
The NHL season 1932/33, was the 16th season in the National Hockey League. Nine teams each played 48 games. The Stanley Cup won by the New York Rangers after a 3-1 win in the final series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Ottawa Senators returned but also in Detroit, the coffers were empty. The Falcons were sold to James E. Norris, a grain millionaire from Chicago and former Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal AAA. He wanted to give the team a name that suited the Motor City and opted for Detroit Red Wings. In the play -offs the Maple Leafs and Bruins went on the pain thresholds. Only after 104:46 in the sixth overtime redeemed Toronto's Ken Doraty at 1:50 clock the players and fans. It was the first this season the Rookie Award, the Detroit Carl Voss won.
