1933–34 NHL season

The NHL season 1933/34, was the 17th season in the National Hockey League. Nine teams each played 48 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Chicago Blackhawks after a 3-1 victory in the final series against the Detroit Red Wings. After the Jubilee in Chicago, there was at the Hawks during the summer break only reason to grieve. With the goalie Charlie Gardiner and the rookie Jack Leswick two players the Hawks died after the season. Another player could already read his obituary in December. In a tough game on between Bruins and Maple Leafs was Eddie Shore to only the victim of a harsh attack on Toronto's King Clancy. When he was the perpetrator, Ace Bailey was mistakenly target of his attack. Bailey was checked from behind and hit his head on the ice. He retired to serious concussions. In a nearby hospital his life could be saved, but he never returned as a player back on the ice. The day after the game in a Boston newspaper was to read his obituary. Shore was banned for 16 games. To support the invalid Bailey, entered on February 14 in Toronto a selection team with the " sinners " Eddie Shore for the first All-Star Game on. The proceeds of $ 20,900 went to King Clancy. A back number was locked in ice hockey on February 22, first time in 1934. The Sir Lionel Hitchman was from the Boston Bruins, whose jersey number was 3 never forgive again.
